With Ramadan approaching quickly, have you considered supporting MPAC Foundation with your zakat? Every year, many questions arise about who and what organizations can receive zakat.
Surah At-Tawba speaks about zakat in a practical way and clearly outlines the parameters:
“Zakat expenditures are only for the poor and for the needy and for those employed to collect [zakat] and for bringing hearts together [for Islam] and for freeing captives [or slaves] and for those in debt and for the cause of Allah and for the [stranded] traveler – an obligation [imposed] by Allah. And Allah is Knowing and Wise.”Surah At-Tawba 9:60
“Don’t hesitate when considering your zakat money as a legitimate supply and support to our organization, MPAC,” said Dr. Maher Hathout, MPAC’s Senior Adviser, about giving zakat, which is one of the five pillars of Islam.
By supporting MPAC Foundation with your zakat, you are directly fulfilling the duty of softening the hearts and minds of fellow Americans with an accurate understanding of Islam. Through our work, MPAC engages decision makers and opinion shapers in government, media, law enforcement and Hollywood to build bridges of understanding and promote accurate portrayals and policies involving Islam and Muslims. We’re also taking the lead on speaking on behalf of the oppressed and voiceless, on issues related to immigration, women’s rights, and xenophobia.
