Sir Bob Geldof accepts his Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2018 MPAC Media Awards for his four decades of humanitarian work. Sir Bob Geldof launched “Band Aid” and “Live Aid,” raising over $210 million for Ethiopian famine relief, and millions more for Darfur and the victims of the Ebola crisis in West Africa. For his humanitarian work, Sir Bob Geldof has been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize, received an honorary knighthood by Queen Elizabeth II, and presented the “Freedom of the City of Dublin” award. Geldof returned that award in protest that his fellow awardee, Myanmar leader Aung San Suu Kyi, has permitted the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims.
