MPAC is deeply alarmed by reports that the Trump Administration may invoke the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to carry out mass deportations. This dangerous misuse of power echoes one of the darkest chapters in American history—the internment of Japanese Americans during WWII—and sets a chilling precedent for the future.
Scapegoating entire communities under the guise of national security is a red line we must not cross. History has shown that policies fueled by fear and xenophobia do not make us safer—they erode our democratic values.
